Breakthrough
Walls ahead. Don't slow down.
You're running across an open plain, and every few seconds something stands in your way: a sheet of glass, a wooden wall, a slab of metal. You don't stop. You aim, you shoot, and you break through.
Drawn in white lines on black. Press 1 any time to switch to the full-color version, and back.
Made in one day for 1-DAY JAM #4 · Theme: BREAK
HOW TO PLAY
• Move the mouse to aim. Click to shoot. That's it.
• Every wall is a real shape: each hit carves a hole where you aimed, and the pieces fall for real. Punch a hole big enough and you pass straight through.
• Glass shatters in a couple of hits. Wood tears in long splinters. Metal takes patience.
• Every hit adds to your combo. Miss, and it drops to zero.
• At 10 combo you enter FEVER: 10 seconds where everything falls in one shot, you speed up, and the score doubles.
• Each round ends with a reward: Pierce (shots go through one more wall), Blast (bigger holes) or an extra Life.
• Run until you've got no lives left. Chase your best round.
Rounds get faster, walls get thicker and the day turns to night. One run is 3–5 minutes.
TWO LOOKS, ONE KEY
• 1-bit (default): everything is a hand-drawn outline. Glass is hatched, wood is grained, metal is riveted. Sounds are short synth beeps and noise.
• Color (press 1): translucent glass, rusted steel, a sky that goes from noon to sunset to night, and real recorded sounds of bottles clinking, branches cracking and sheet metal tearing.
• Your choice is remembered.
NOTES
• Walls are cut, not swapped: the hole is exactly where you hit, and the fragments fly off with physics. No pre-made "broken" sprites.
• A calm piano soundtrack that only brings in the drums when you hit fever.
• Plays in your browser. PC + mouse. Full screen recommended. M mutes.
USE OF AI
Designed and directed by a human (Ssang2). The game was built in a single day with Claude Code as the programmer: all GDScript, the shaders, the destruction geometry, the test bots that balanced each material, and the Python scripts that rendered the music from free sample libraries. Every rule, every tuning number and every "this still feels wrong" came from a human playing it.
